University of Zimbabwe holds a successful Virtual Research Week for 2021
The UZ research week 2021 which is the University’s key strategic event towards promoting demand-driven research and advancement of innovation was held from the 24th to 27th of August this year.
It was anchored on the National Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education 5.0 thrust which is to promote teaching, research, community service, innovation and industrialisation for a competitive, modern and industrialised Zimbabwe.
The Program ran under the theme, “University of Zimbabwe on the move: Setting the pace for industrialization and modernization through education 5.0”. A panel of University Professors, Doctors, Lecturers and top performing students were also part of the program.
It covered a number of themes such as renewable energy solutions, digital economy, artificial intelligence and machine learning, leadership and corporate governance, entrepreneurship, investment and economic development among others.
According to the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education “Under education 5.0 Zimbabwe’s state universities must launch into outcomes-focused national development activities towards a competitive, modern and industrialized Zimbabwe…this requires that the universities take advantage of the provincial economy concept being actively promoted in the second republic.”
