CAMFED AND THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION FACILITATE IN PROVIDING MOBILITY FOR RURAL SCHOOLS.
The United Kingdom’s Department of International Development has donated vehicles, bicycles and motorcycles to the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
The donation which was channeled through the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education in union with Campaign for Female Education is meant to aid students who struggle travelling to school.
The UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) Director, Ms Geraldine O’ Callaghan stated that the intervention from CAMFED and DFID is set to enhance access to inclusive and quality education to marginalised communities.
“This will allow them to be responsive to the needs of the most vulnerable learners. The motorbikes will be used to support the catch-up strategies open distance learning initiatives we have been witnessing in all the various districts,” she said
The vehicles and motorbikes will be handed over to districts such as Chipinge, Mbire, Mudzi, Mwenezi, Binga, Bubi, Lupane and Beitbridge among others.
CAMFED is an organisation which has provided support for the girl child in the rural areas for over 25 years in Zimbabwe and it has been currently working alongside Government ministries to attain the 2030 Education development agenda
