KFC Victoria Falls shuts down in less than five years

One of the leading international fast food chain, Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) recently closed one of its seven branches in the country following its dismal performance over the past three years.
The Victoria Falls branch, which had employed 30 locals had to shutdown its operations due to slow business. Commenting on the closure, a citizen highlighted that the decision to open an outlet in the city was ill advised as it is a tourist hub where tourists mainly want to experience local culture and cuisine.
However, some tourists only eat local food to get an experience of what the food tastes like and then they go back to their fast food staples. That is why McDonalds and KFC outlets are everywhere, even in the centre of Paris, the foodie capital of the world, another citizen commented.
Although tourists were the main target for the fast food giant, Victoria Falls generally experiences slower business because of its lower population and the COVID-19 pandemic did not make it easier for the branch.
After creating employment for the locals and being in business since 2017, the branch could have stood a better chance in making a difference in the community if the pandemic had not occurred.
