The Acting Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Transport and Infrasture Development Engineer Amos Amos says the Norton tollgate expansion project is under construction.
Engineer Amos said the construction of an additional toll plaza is now in motion at the tollgate which is along the Harare -Bulawayo highway and it will pave way for the opening of the dualized section of the road.
He said once complete a section of the 4.2 kilometres that were resurfaced will be opened.
The expansion project comes as a relief for motorists, who are looking forward to eased congestion at the tollgate.
In accordance to the National Development Strategy one envisaged by the Second Republic, the government has embarked on the emergency road rehabilitation programme which has seen major highways and urban roads receiving a major facelift.
