PARASTATAL REFORM AGENDA BEARS FRUIT
By Staff Reporter
The Second Republic’s parastatal reform agenda has resulted in the transformation of a significant number of state-owned enterprises in the past few years.
This has seen parastatals registering significant progress, with some shifting from being loss making institutions to becoming massive profit making organisations and even declaring a dividend to the government.
One such parastatal is the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (Zinara), as it is playing a role to sufficiently support the current Emergency Road Rehabilitation Programme and the National Development Strategy One which have both listed road rehabilitation as a major key economic enabler.
Newly appointed Zinara board chairperson, Dr George Manyaya, says a complete turnaround strategy is set to be implemented and will govern the way the road fund will be administered.
Dr Manyaya also said Zinara will embark on a rebranding exercise to improve its public appeal.
Zimbabwe’s parastatal reform agenda is shaping up through the government’s mechanisms to enhance efficiency and effectiveness among state owned-entities.
