GOVERNMENT TALKS TOUGH ON VID CORRUPTION

With the government cracking down on corruption, and empowering watchdogs such as the Anti-Corruption commission, moves are now being made to curb the vice in the transport sector.
Government has given a stern warning to some Vehicle Inspection Department (VID) officials and driving schools involved in corruption.
Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister, Honourable Felix Mhona had an urgent meeting with officials from VID and driving schools after his office was inundated with reports of severe corruption in the issuance of drivers’ licences.
Honorable Mhona said all driving schools partnering with VID officials to facilitate bribes in the issuance of driver’s licences will be deregistered immediately.
“Government has zero tolerance to corruption. We have received reports that VID officials are working with driving schools in corrupt tendencies. We will deregister all driving schools involved in this,” Hon. Mhona noted.
The Second Republic, under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, has emphasized its stance towards corruption and continues to put in place measures to curb the vice permanently.
